Work without interruptions

In an interview with the Gallup Management Journal, Dr. Gloria Mark of UC Irvine revealed that on average, office workers spend only around three minutes at a time on any single task, whether due to a shift in focus or external interruptions. This raises a question: if movie theaters can run spots reminding us to turn off our phones and keep conversation to a minimum for our neighbors’ sakes, why can’t workplaces?

A well-placed courtesy sign that tells employees to keep the noise down or avoid long or unnecessary phone conversations has the potential to give any office environment an edge in productivity by discouraging distractions and annoyances.
